Johnny Bob is a progressive rock band from Hamburg .

history

The debut album Carnival of the Brahma-Sox was released in 2017, the year it was founded, and achieved initial successes. In April 2019, the second album Fjodor and the Watergiant followed , which received a lot of attention in the prog rock scene. The magazine eclipsed wrote : "With this double-decker, Johnny Bob announce that they will soon become one of the really big bands in the national progressive scene."

The 4-track EP Hunted by a Caproid was released in January 2020.

The brothers Jörg Purfürst and Carsten Díaz form the core of the band. The current line-up is completed by Philip Mestwerdt and Jan Brust.

style

The style of the band is based on genre idols such as Genesis (Peter Gabriel era), the early King Crimson or Marillion .

The lyrics are mostly bizarre stories with socially critical metaphors, narrated and performed by Díaz, who is known for altering the history of the band in interviews and on stage so that truth and fiction merge.
