Joint Vision 2020 ( engl. Mutatis mutandis "perspective for the armed forces across operational command in 2020") is a strategic document , which the Ministry of Defense of the United States of America published on 30 May 2000 and the reflections on a "superiority across the board" ( English original expression: Full- spectrum dominance ) of the US armed forces so that they could face threats across the globe in 2020. The ability to play a global strike (about: the global impact ) a central role.

Compared to its predecessor Joint Vision 2010 , Joint Vision 2020 relaxed the time limit, rearranged priorities and expanded the full-spectrum dominance to asymmetrically approaching opponents. The lessons of the most recent military operations, especially the gathering of information and unrestrained cooperation between all the authorities and nations involved, were also incorporated into Joint Vision 2020 . These lessons also included the fact that the armed forces would have to master all types of operations in the future, but combat operations have absolute priority. The extensive flow of information is intended to expand the choice of decision-makers and to keep associations of all sizes up to date on what is happening.

Since its publication, these guidelines have gradually been implemented as part of general military doctrine . The result of this process is Network-Centric Warfare , a fully networked operation management. While the major structural measures , such as the transformation of the United States Army , should be completed by 2008, the procurement of the equipment necessary to implement the strategy , for example the Future Combat Systems including the Future Force Warrior infantry module , will take at least until 2020.

A separate command of the armed forces , the Joint Forces Command, is entrusted with the implementation .
