Jokin Mitxelena Erice (born February 15, 1962 in San Sebastian ) is a Spanish picture book illustrator .

Life

Jokin Mitxelena (also Jokin Michelena as in the pronunciation), from the Basque Country , spent his childhood in San Sebastian and studied fine arts in Bilbao . From 1985 he worked as a teacher and published his first illustrations. He has drawn numerous Basque children's books, many of which have also been translated into Spanish . In 1995 he moved to Germany. In cooperation with Basque and German publishers, he works as a draftsman and author of books for children and young people. Mitxelena lives with his family in Neuwied .
