Jolanthe Marès

Jolanthe Marès (also: Iolanthe Marès , Yolande Maree , pseudonyms for Selma Reichel ; * 1868 , † after 1934) was a German writer .

Life

Jolanthe Marès was the author of a number of moral novels published between 1914 and 1934 . Her most successful work was the novel Lillis Ehe , which in 1919 had a circulation of 60,000 copies. This book also formed the basis for Ernst Lubitsch's 1924 film Three Women .

Jolanthe Marès' oeuvre was on the list of harmful and undesirable literature drawn up by the Nazi regime in 1938 .
