Jonathan B. Postel Service Award
The Jonathan B. Postel Service Award is named after the internet pioneer Jon Postel . The Internet Society has awarded the prize annually since 1999 to "honor a person or organization that has made outstanding contributions to the service of the data communications community" (to honor an individual or an organization that has made outstanding contributions in service to the data communications community ).
The first posthumous prize winner was Jon Postel himself. The prize was created by Vint Cerf as chairman of the Internet Society and announced in RFC 2468 under the title I remember IANA .
