Jordan Charles Vogt-Roberts is an American director and screenwriter .

Life

Vogt-Roberts grew up in the Detroit suburb of Royal Oak . His family later moved to Arizona . When he was 18 years old, he moved back to his grandmother in Royal Oak and attended Dondero High School there until 2003. He then moved back to Arizona and then went to Chicago to the local Columbia College to study film studies.

Vogt-Roberts produced his first stop-motion films with Lego bricks from an early age. During his studies in Chicago he made his first short films with various comedians. The project Blerds.com emerged from the collaboration , for which he shot several videos. He received his first orders for the project from the advertising agency Tribal DDB .

In 2010 he made the short film Successful Alcoholics with TJ Miller and Lizzy Caplan , which was shown at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival . He then shot the television series Mash Up for Comedy Central , for which he worked as co-writer, director and executive producer. In the next two years he made other short films and television productions.

He directed the comedy Kings of Summer , which premiered on January 19, 2013 as part of the competition of the Sundance Film Festival under the festival title Toy's House .

In September 2014 it was announced that Vogt-Roberts would take over the direction of Kong: Skull Island , produced by Legendary Pictures .
