Jorge Bendeck Olivella

Jorge Bendeck Olivella (* before 1964 in Villanueva , Colombia ) is a Colombian politician and diplomat.

Life

He studied geology at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia in Medellin . From 1964 he worked as a geologist for the Colombian oil company Ecopetrol . In 1967/68 he continued his education at the University of Vienna , where he took palynology . Jorge Bendeck Olivella rose to the position of Vice President for Exploration and Production at Ecopetrol.

In 1985 he founded the Instituto Colombiano de Petróleo of which he also became the first director. He also took on a professorship at the Universidad de América in Bogota .

In 1992, after 28 years at Ecopetrol, he became Minister of Labor and Transport in the government of César Gaviria for two years . In 1996 he became the Colombian ambassador to Germany. In 2005 he took over the role of President of the Federación Nacional de Biocombustibles, which is committed to biofuels .

Jorge Bendeck Olivella is also active as an author, mainly dealing with historical topics.
