Jorge Contegni

Jorge Contegni is an Argentinian singer ( tenor ).

Contegni's repertoire ranges from Italian and Spanish folk music to tango, musical comedies, zarzuelas and operas to chamber music and songs. In 1995 he was part of the cast in the performance of the opera El Jorobado de París ll by Angel Mahler (libretto: Pepe Cibrián Campoy ) in the Luna Park Stadium in Buenos Aires. This was followed by appearances in the world premiere of Zarzuela Viva la Verbena by Luis Aguilé and performances of Johann Christoph Pepusch's The Beggar's Opera and Francis Poulenc's Les mamelles de Tirésias at the Teatro Avenida and of Gaetano Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore and Gioachino Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Teatro Colón .

At the Casa de la Opera de Buenos Aires, founded by Adelaida Negri , he appeared in Donizetti's buffo opera Viva la Mamma and Giacomo Puccini's La Bohème . With the pianist Estela Ojeda he performed a cycle of classical and modern songs under the title Un tenor, un piano y melodías líricas . He went on an international tour with a production of the Teatro Astral by Zarzuela y Olé and appeared in Javier Zentner's El diez, entre el cielo y el infierno at the Teatro Metropolitan.

He also worked on Luis Aguilé's productions by Alegrías de España , Escándalo en el Grand Hotel , Superfiesta and Por las calles de Madrid-España es una fiesta , all of which were released on CD. In 2003 he released his first solo CD under the title El Corazón.
