Luna Park (Buenos Aires)

The Luna Park ( span. Luna , the moon ') is an indoor stadium in the district of San Nicolas in Buenos Aires , Argentina , the various events for Art, is utilized from sports to music. It was built in 1932 , initially without a hall roof and shortly thereafter provided with a roof. Luna Park is located between Bouchard Street, which runs in north-south direction and Eduardo Madero Avenue, and between Corrientes Avenue, which runs in east-west direction, and Lavalle Street, in the immediate vicinity of the Puerto Madero harbor area .

The owner Ernestina Lectoure, who died in 2013, bequeathed Luna Park to the Argentine Caritas and the Salesians .

In Luna Park u. a. More than 20 boxing competitions, world championships in volleyball and basketball, tennis tournaments, cycling races and circus take place, in 1989 also the wedding of Diego Maradona .

The German punk rock band Die Toten Hosen played on October 18, 2003 with a sold out house in front of 8,000 spectators (for security reasons, 2,000 fewer tickets were sold than the capacity allowed). The Argentine punk band Los Violadores appeared as the opening act .

In 2006, 2007 and 2008, on the occasion of the renovation of the most important theater in Buenos Aires, the Teatro Colón , most of its program will be played in Luna Park.
