Jornal de Negócios , in German "Handelsblatt", is a Portuguese business newspaper with an economically liberal orientation. It is the only major business newspaper in Portugal besides the Diário Económico . It appears in the Berlin format .

The newspaper was initially created online, from November 23, 1997 it was available at negocios.pt and was designed as an online section of the Canal de Negócios television channel . The newspaper appeared for the first time on January 8, 1998, but initially as a weekly newspaper. It was founded by the entrepreneurs José Diogo Madeira and Tiago Cortez together with the Vaz Guedes family (through the MediaFin SGPS holding company ). Since May 8, 2003 the newspaper has been published every working day (from Monday to Friday). Since the sale of MediaFin SGPS, the newspaper has belonged to the Cofina media group .

The first editor-in-chief of the Jornal de Negócios was José Diogo Madeira (until March 2000), followed by Rui Borges (until September 2001) and then José Diogo Madeira (until October 2002). Then Sérgio Figueiredo took over the paper and headed the editorial department until February 2007. Pedro Santos Guerreiro has been with the newspaper since then.

The circulation in 2011/12 was around 16,000 copies per day.
