Jean Louis Piette (born June 29, 1767 in Vielsalm ; † March 23, 1833 in Dillingen / Saar ) was a Franco-German paper manufacturer.
Life
Jean Louis Piette served in the French army under Napoleon Bonaparte and was appointed administrator general of the military magazines in Strasbourg . He rose to the rank of guard general and acquired the title of "de Rivage". Between 1805 and 1810 he bought land near Benfeld and began making paper in a paper mill . Around 1815 he gave up the land and moved to the Prussian town of Dillingen / Saar , where in 1821 he acquired land and the Dillingen paper mill . In 1827 he handed over the management of his mill to his son Louis Piette . After his death, Louis Piette and his brother Prosper Joseph Maria Piette took over the joint management of the mill.
family
Jean Louis Piette married Anna Gabriele Wurmser from Strasbourg around 1802, the daughter of the landowner Valentin Wurmser . The marriage resulted in another son in addition to Louis and Prosper. The family's daughters were married to men from the Defrance family.
