Jorrit de Ruiter
Jorrit de Ruiter (born November 28, 1986 in Amsterdam ) is a former Dutch badminton player .
Career
When Jorrit de Ruiter was seven years old, he started playing badminton at BC Duinwijck in Haarlem. Until 2005 he played for this club in various leagues. He then left the club and played for the first time in the 1st National League for BV Slotermeer in Amsterdam. A year later he moved to BV Van Zijderveld in Amstelveen, where he played in the 1st National League until 2011. In 2011 he returned to BC Duinwijck for a year and then played 4 seasons for 1. BV Mülheim an der Ruhr in the 1. Bundesliga. Since 2016 he has played again for BC Duinwijck in the Dutch league. In March 2018 his team becomes national champion and that is the 25th championship for the club. A year later, de Ruiter is back when the club also manages to win the final of the Dutch league 2018-2019.
Internationally, de Ruiter finished ninth in the men's doubles with Jürgen Wouters at the All England Super Series 2009 . In 2011 he won the Slovak International . In 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2015 he took part in the Badminton World Championships . Jorrit de Ruiter was a member of the Dutch national badminton team. He specialized in doubles. Until April 2013 he played with Dave Khodabux in men's doubles (highest world number 32). After that he only played with Samantha Barning in mixed (highest world number 16). Due to a serious injury to Barning in September 2013, neither of them could play any further tournaments that year. As a result, they fell far behind in the world rankings, in January 2014 to 60th place. In February 2014 they started playing international tournaments again and in April 2014 they won bronze together at the European Championships. After the 2015 World Badminton Championships in Jakarta, he decided to end his international career.
De Ruiter trained as a full-time professional in the Dutch national sports center Papendal in Arnhem and was chairman of the athletes' committee of the Dutch Badminton Federation.
