José Brunner (born June 22, 1954 ) is an Israeli historian of science .

Life

He studied political science at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem . After graduation in political science at St Antony's College of Oxford University , he was a visiting researcher and visiting professor at the Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies at Harvard University , at the Department of Social Studies of Medicine at McGill University, in Jena Center 20th century, Friedrich -Schiller University Jena and at the Center for the History of Knowledge at ETH Zurich . From 2005 to 2013 he was also director of the Minerva Institute for German History and since 2012 he has headed the Eva and Marc Besen Institute for the Study of Historical Consciousness. Together with lawyer Yossi Hayut, he founded the first Legal Clinic for the rights of Holocaust survivors in Israel at Tel Aviv University in 2011 .
