José Carlos Martínez
José Carlos Martínez (* 1969 in Cartagena ) is a Spanish ballet dancer and choreographer . He holds the rank of étoile in the ballet of the Paris Opera .
He completed his dance training at the Rosella Hightower dance school in Cannes . After winning the Prix de Lausanne in 1987, he was accepted into the Paris Opera Ballet School. A year later he joined the corps de ballet of the Paris Opera.
On May 31, 1997 Martínez was after a performance of the ballet La Sylphide for danseur étoile appointed.
Martínez's repertoire includes numerous works of classical and modern dance. Many choreographers have created roles especially for him.
