José Ignacio is a fishing and seaside resort in Uruguay . It is located in the Maldonado department .
José Ignacio is located, adjacent to the Laguna José Ignacio , on the Atlantic coast, a few kilometers up the coast from Punta del Este . The closest neighboring towns are Arenas de José Ignacio and Santa Mónica . The place is connected to the local public transport via the bus connection Maldonado - Faro José Ignacio (CODESA - Línea 14).
José Ignacio had 292 inhabitants at the 2011 census, of which 153 were male and 139 female.
