José Raúl López López - also known as Fonini - (born November 12, 1968 in Morón ; † October 14, 2010 ibid) was a Cuban football player .

Often referred to as “el Mago”, the magician, because of his excellent overview of the game and his individual technique, he was one of Cuba's outstanding footballers in the 1990s. Fonini, who was also compared to the Colombian Carlos Valderrama because of his head of hair, became Cuban national champion with FC Ciego de Ávila in 1993 and vice-champion two years later. In 1997 he won the Supercopa de Campeones . He also played several times for the Cuban national soccer team . After the then Italian national coach of Cuba, Giovanni Campari, did not consider him in the qualifying games for the 1998 World Cup in France, he withdrew from active football.

Although plagued by physical problems, he attempted a comeback in 2004 at the age of 35. He was spurred on by the hope of playing in a team with his son Yasmani at the II. Olimpiada del Deporte Cubano . In fact, in April of that year, both competed together for the selection of Ciego de Ávila against the selection of Centrales , which was the first time in Cuba that father and son played simultaneously on a team.
