biography

player

Vantolrá was under contract with Deportivo Toluca from 1962 to 1973 . During this time he was twice Mexican champion and once CONCACAF Champions' Cup winner.

Between 1963 and 1970 he completed a total of 31 international matches for the Mexican national soccer team and was a regular player in the 1970 soccer World Cup , which was held in his own country , when he played all four games in full.

Trainer

In early 1992, he took over on the eighth second half of the 1991/92 season at his former club Toluca for the first time the role of head coach. It was a made-to-measure debut, as the team took 7 wins and 2 draws from the remaining 12 games, with all of the last five games being won. The 1992/93 season also got off to a successful start and Toluca came after a hefty opening defeat at the UNAM Pumas (0: 4) to three wins and five draws. But after that it went downhill rapidly. After 29 match days, the team had only achieved 5 wins and 11 draws, whereby the performance curve continued to decline. After a 4-0 home win against Puebla on the 17th matchday, Toluca remained without a win in the following 12 games (with a record of 3 draws and 9 defeats) and Vantolrá was released early. He was then head coach only once when he coached the team of Santos Laguna for three games (with one draw and two defeats) in February 1996 .
