Josef Gerke

Josef Georg Gerke also Josef-Georg Gerke (born September 8, 1909 in Kassel ; † April 27, 1977 ) was a German medic .

Life

Gerke studied medicine and dentistry. In 1943 he was in Düsseldorf with the work on the socialization of cleft formations of the face and the jaw with other deformities and hereditary diseases to the dr. med. doctorate, later qualified as Dr. med. dent. He was a professor and specialist in dentistry, oral medicine and maxillofacial medicine.

Gerke was head of the dental surgery department at the West German jaw clinic in Düsseldorf. After August Lindemann retired in 1950, Gerke took over the management of maxillofacial surgery until 1953; after the death of Karl Häupl , he also took over provisional management of the Medical Academy. Later he was the head of the polyclinic.

He edited volumes 6 to 9 of the Guide to Surgery and Orthopedics of the Mouth and the Jaw , published by August Lindemann.
