Josef Jíra

Josef Jíra (born October 11, 1929 in Turnov , † June 15, 2005 in Malá Skála ) was a Czech painter, graphic artist and illustrator.

Jíra graduated from the Art Academy in Prague . In 1969 he received first prize at the second Prague Salon. He was a member of the M57 group . He created well-known illustrations for works by Bohumil Hrabal and Ivan Olbracht . He is also known for a wide variety of large paintings in the Czech Republic.
