Josef Quantschnig

Josef Quantschnig (born June 11, 1939 in Klagenfurt ) is an Austrian politician (SPÖ) . He was President of the Carinthian Chamber for Workers and Employees and a member of the Carinthian Landtag .

biography

Josef Quantschnig began his career as an employee representative in 1964 as Chairman of the Works Council at Philips in Klagenfurt. In 1969 he was elected Chamber Council and Vice-President and in 1979 he was elected President of the Carinthian Chamber of Labor. He worked as AK President for 23 years. His presidency included the adoption of the Carinthian Employment Promotion Act in 1985 and the introduction of free AK legal protection in 1992. From 1979 onwards, Quantschnig was also regional chairman of the metal union, regional chairman of the Association of Carinthian Adult Education Centers and member of the Carinthian state parliament.

On October 30, 2002, when he left politics, he was awarded the Great Golden Cross of Merit of the State of Carinthia by the then Governor Jörg Haider , and on October 2, 2003, Quantschnig was awarded the Great Gold Medal for Merit by Minister Martin Bartenstein in Vienna awarded by the Republic of Austria .
