Josef Turnwald

Josef Wilhelm Turnwald (born August 18, 1845 in Podersam , † March 24, 1929 in Reichenberg ) was a German politician and writer .

Life

Turnwald was born in Podersam in 1845 as the son of the magistrate Johann Turnwald and his wife Barbara Killian. He studied law at the Charles University in Prague and from 1868 worked at the court in Friedland, later in Bohemian Leipa. After the language regulation was published in 1880, he left the civil service. From 1882 he lived in Reichenberg, where he worked as a self-employed lawyer. In 1885 he was elected to the city council and belonged to it until 1892. As an independent candidate, he became a member of the Bohemian state parliament in 1911 with the support of the German Progress Party and the German People's Party . In addition to his political activities, Turnwald was active as a writer.

Turnwald was married to Klothillde Klinger (von Klingerstorff), a daughter of the textile manufacturer Ignatz Klinger from Neustadtl.
