Josef Wagner (* 1873 ; † 1936 ) was an Austrian politician, member of the Social Democratic Workers' Party (SDAP) in the Lower Austrian state parliament and state cultural council.

Life

He was a treasurer and employed by the City of Vienna . As a solution to the social misery in Vienna after the collapse of the monarchy, he propagated the idea of emigrating to Austria , which gained popularity among the unemployed industrial workers. As part of this resettlement, also known as internal colonization , the Austrian form of the garden city movement , he founded the Kolonien in der Heimat association , which played a major role in the Oberau settler coup .
