Josef Wiemeyer

Josef Wiemeyer (* 1960 ) is a German sports scientist and university professor .

Life

Wiemeyer graduated from the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster in 1985 with a teaching degree in sports and Latin, followed by a doctoral degree. In 1989 he obtained the academic degree of Doctor of Theoretical Medicine (Doctor rerum medicinalium), the title of his doctoral thesis was "Quantification of the central nervous activation level with the help of an improved method for measuring the frequency of flicker fusion". He also completed his habilitation (subject: "Motor, cognitive and emotional aspects of movement and movement learning in sport") at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster in 1996. In April 1996, Wiemeyer took up a professorship in the area of ​​exercise, training and sports informatics at the Institute for Sports Science at the Technical University of Darmstadt .

His scientific work focuses on computer games in learning and training, multimedia teaching and learning systems, motor skills research, sports informatics, flexibility training and stretching.
