Josef Wiesheier (born August 16, 1907 in Gaiganz , District Office Forchheim; † May 21, 1933 there ) was a Franconian farm worker.

Career

Wiesheier was a supporter of the NSDAP and a member of the SA . After a drinking tour, he windowed a young girl in the nearby Mittelehrenbach . Their jealous friend Lorenz Schriefer strangled Wiesheier and threw the body into the village pond of Gaiganz.

The National Socialists constructed a political background. Wiesheier was attacked by political opponents, knocked out and drowned in the village pond. He was declared a martyr of the National Socialist movement. A large number of National Socialists marched at his funeral. In 1937 a street in Bayreuth was named after him. Schriefer, the perpetrator, was sentenced to death.

A Marian column , which was marked with a swastika when it was erected, commemorates the murder .
