Josef Zurkirchen
Josef Zurkirchen (* 1900 in Bessarabia , † 1993 in Schruns ) was an Austrian homeland researcher of Swiss descent.
Life
Josef Zurkirchen worked as a successful journalist in the USA for many years. In 1965 he came to the Montafon as a guest by chance - not knowing that he would become the great pioneer of local history in this valley.
The result of his many years of work is, among other things, the valley archive, which has been housed in the new Montafon archive of the Montafon Local History Museum in Schruns since 2002. The archive houses an outstanding collection of various historical documents on the history of the Montafon valley.
