Josef von Maschka

Josef von Maschka (born March 3, 1820 in Prague ; † February 5, 1899 there ) was a Czech physician.

Live and act

Josef von Maschka was the son of a conducting medical officer from Bohemia. He studied in his native city and graduated with a doctorate in 1842. From the following year he practiced for several years as a secondary doctor in a Prague hospital and madhouse. He then worked as an assistant at the forensic medicine department in Prague, where he also completed his habilitation. From 1852 he worked as a forensic doctor. In 1857 he followed a call in Prague as a professor of forensic medicine. In addition, he worked as an imperial-royal state court doctor, was a full member of the state medical council and was knighted.
