The Josefi Chapel in November 2016.

The Josefikapelle is a corridor chapel and is located in the market town of Gaishorn am See in the Liezen district in Styria . It is located in the immediate vicinity of the listed branch church St. Virgil and is also a listed building itself .

history

The origin of the chapel can no longer be fully traced, but the current building dates from 1861. At that time, a desolate wooden votive chapel was replaced by this chapel in neo-Gothic style. The chapel stands by a dried up well, which is said to have medicinal water and which bears the name Josefibründl . The chapel, which is located near the forest, is only accessible through an ogival wooden south portal and has ogival windows adapted to the portal on both the east and west sides. Among other things, the shape of the roof, which is covered with wooden shingles, looks like a normal gable roof from the front , but flattens towards the back ( resembling a monopitch roof ).
