The Catholic parish church of St. Joseph is located at Kurzen Graben 1 in Schwäbisch Hall .

History and description

The building was built from 1885 to 1886 according to plans by the Hall building inspector Pfeifer and the Stuttgart architect Ulrich Pohlhammer . The consecration took place on June 30, 1887. Joseph Balluff , chaplain from Schwäbisch Gmünd, was the first city pastor to work there.

The building is a three-aisled ashlar basilica with a church tower on the side in the neo-Gothic style . In 1938 and 1950 it was renovated, in 1977 the choir room was redesigned, from 1997 to 2001 a further renovation took place, in the course of which the foundations were drained and the masonry was desalinated. The interior was redesigned in the course of this renovation. Windows and bronze work by Monika Baumhauer were integrated into the church.

Windows, altar, ambo, tabernacle stele and a standing cross in the choir were created for the redesign in 2001. After that, the new consecration took place by Bishop Gebhard Fürst on October 14, 2001.
