The Josefstädter Kaserne ("kk Kavalleriekaserne", called "(Josefstädter) Reiterkaserne") was located in the Viennese suburb of Josefstadt .

It was built on a plot of land bounded by Josefstädter Strasse , Albertgasse and Florianigasse in the 8th district of Vienna . On Fuhrmannsgasse , the rear of the private houses standing there bordered the barracks .

In 1772 the eastern part and in 1794 the western part of the property were acquired by the military archer and converted into barracks according to plans by Josef Gerl . This took place in the years 1772 to 1777, followed by an expansion in 1794. Although the Viennese magistrate asked for the barracks to be demolished for the first time around 1800 because of the risk of fire, the barracks were rebuilt after demolition in 1850–1853. The final demolition took place in 1903-1910 in the course of the barracks transaction . The Breitenseer barracks were built as a replacement by the Army Administration ( Austro-Hungarian Army ) .
