The Joseph von Eichendorff monument is in the Botanical Garden of the Lower Silesian city of Wroclaw .

history

A first memorial for the Silesian poet Joseph von Eichendorff was erected on June 27, 1911 in Scheitninger Park (Polish Park Szczytnicki ). After 1945, the monument, like all Eichendorff monuments in Silesia , was destroyed and removed. Only the base with the two bas-reliefs, which can still be found in Scheitniger Park today, remained in the Breslau monument .

In the last two decades, new monuments to Joseph von Eichendorff were built all over Silesia, including in Breslau. The monument from 1911 was reconstructed and erected on May 11, 2012 in the Botanical Garden on the city's cathedral island. The base shows the bas-reliefs from 1911 and the same inscription: "Joseph Freiherr von Eichendorff 1788–1857".
