Joseph Aboukhater

Joseph Ibrahim Aboukhater (* 1905 in Zahlé ; † unknown) was a Lebanese diplomat and politician .

Life

Aboukhater joined the Foreign Service of Lebanon after studying in Lebanon and France . He was his country's ambassador to Italy , Austria and Mexico . In 1944 he was appointed Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1958 to 1966 he was ambassador to Cairo, then permanent representative of Lebanon to the Arab League . In 1967 he left the diplomatic service.

In 1968 he was elected as a member of the Lebanese parliament, in 1969 Prime Minister Rashid Karami appointed him Minister of Education.
