Joseph Hutchinson

Joseph Hutchinson (born 1852 in Borris-in-Ossory , County Laois , † October 17, 1928 in Drumcondra ) was an Irish politician.

Hutchinson came to Dublin at the age of 15 . In September 1877, he and eight other men founded the Irish National Foresters Benevolent Association , which later made a name for itself in the English-speaking world. In 1881 he became trustee of the company and in 1884 treasurer. Two years later, Hutchinson became Secretary General of the Irish National Foresters Benevolent Association .

His political career began in 1890 when he was elected to the Dublin City Council ( Dublin Corporation ). Hutchinson was with him for 23 years. During this time he was High Sheriff of Dublin in 1896 and held the office of Lord Mayor of Dublin from February 1904 to February 1906 .

Hutchinson died on October 17, 1928 in his home at Ivy Cottage in Drumcondra. His wife had died the day before.
