The Jost tape is a woven, richly patterned, colorful ribbon that in the northern East Prussia to costumes as a belt was worn as jewelry and belt. Before the advent of mechanical weaving , the artfully woven ribbons with the help of a weaving comb and mostly 9 pattern threads were also used in many other areas.

Josta is the name for belt in the Prussian , Curonian and Lithuanian languages . The term will probably come from Russian and is the name for Russian leather .
