The Journal of Applied Econometrics ( JAE ) is a scientific journal on economic topics. It mainly publishes papers on applied econometrics and is published 7 times a year by the US publisher Wiley-Blackwell .

Replications

The journal has kept a data archive at the economics faculty of Queen's University since 1994, where authors have to store their data for possible replication .

Nine years later, the journal took the next step and, under the leadership of M. Hashem Pesaran, introduced its own replication section in 2003 , which was initially intended to house replications of econometric papers from the Journal of Applied Econometrics . Badi H. Baltagi has been appointed editor for this section. The group of journals whose articles are eligible for replication was later expanded. This now includes the most important economic and econometric journals: Econometrica , American Economic Review , Journal of Political Economy , Quarterly Journal of Economics , Review of Economics and Statistics , Review of Economic Studies , Journal of Econometrics , Journal of Business and Economic Statistics and the Economic Journal .

editorial staff

The journal is headed by economist Barbara Rossi . She is supported by the six co-editors Fabio Canova , Thierry Magnac , Andrew Patton , Herman K. van Dijk , Edward J. Vytlacil and Jonathan H. Wright , the assistant editor Marcelle Chauvet and a number of associate editors. In addition, Badi H. Baltagi has its own editor for replications and nine advisory editors, including the two Nobel Prize winners from 2000, James Heckman and Daniel McFadden .

reception

A study by the French economists Pierre-Phillippe Combes and Laurent Linnemer ranks the journal in the third-best category A, ranking 36th out of 600 economic journals.

Prices

In December 1991 the Journal introduced the Richard Stone Prize for Applied Econometrics. This is awarded every two years for an excellent publication in the two previous years in the Journal of Applied Econometrics and is endowed with US $ 2000. The winners are determined by the editorial board.

In 1999, the Journal of Applied Econometrics began naming distinguished authors . The nomination is intended to honor those economists who have made significant contributions to the journal. An author automatically becomes an excellent author if he receives 36 points from publications in the journal. The number of points per publication is graded according to the number of co-authors: A solo publication earns 12 points, a publication with two authors 8 points, one with 3 authors 6 points and a publication with four or more authors four points.

Since 2002 the journal has also been awarding the dissertation award for applied econometrics, which is endowed with US $ 2500. The winners are determined by the editorial board.
