The journal contains both original articles on research and so-called "short communications" on current topics in biotechnology. The journals cover all areas of biotechnology, with the spectrum from articles on biochemistry , physiology and molecular biology to bioprocess engineering , industrial , medical and agricultural biotechnology to bioinformatics and genomics . The articles are subjected to a "one-pass" peer review .
The Impact Factor was 3.163 in 2018.
