The Journal of Finance is a six-times-a-year academic journal on financial economics. It is the house journal of the American Finance Association , the American association of financial economists. It is considered to be one of the most respected journals in its field. Kenneth J. Singleton has been the editor-in-chief since 2012.

The magazine ranking of the British Association of Business Schools (2010) places it in the best category 4 . Another study by the French economists Pierre-Phillippe Combes and Laurent Linnemer ranks the journal in the second-best category, AA, in 10th place of all economic journals.
