The Journal of Plant Physiology is a scientific journal for the field of botany . It contains essays and book reviews on plant physiology (in some cases also freely published as Open Access ) and it has been published under this title since 1985 (volume 115), up to volume 155 (2000) by Gustav Fischer Verlag , up to volume 159 (2003) by Verlag Urban & Fischer , and from volume 160 onwards by Elsevier Verlag.

The Journal of Plant Physiology is indexed by BIOSIS and the Science Citation Index Expanded . The journal is affiliated with the Federation of European Societies of Plant Biology .

Predecessor magazines were those

  • Journal of Botany , first published in 1909 by Gustav Fischer Verlag, Jena. The editors were Ludwig Jost , Friedrich Oltmanns and Hermann Graf zu Solms-Laubach .
  • Journal of Plant Physiology from 1965 (Volume 65) to 1984 (Volume 114)
  • Flora or Allgemeine Botanische Zeitung from 1818. From 1966 continued as Flora A Physiologie und Biochemie , which was renamed from Volume 161 (1970) to Biochemistry and Physiology of Plants (BPP).
  • From volume 141 (1997), the Journal of Plant Physiology was merged with Biochemistry and Physiology of Plants and continued as the Journal of Plant Physiology to this day.
