The Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society , abbreviated J. Am. Oil Chem. Soc. , is a scientific journal published by Springer-Verlag on behalf of the American Oil Chemists' Society . The first issue appeared in 1924 under the name Journal of Oil and Fat Industries . The name was changed to Oil and Fat Industries in 1927, the next change to Oil and Soap in 1932, and the last change to the Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society in 1947 .
