Journey of a Roach (English; in German about Journey of a Cockroach ) is a computer game of the adventure genre and was published in 2013 by the German publisher Daedalic Entertainment . It was developed by the Swiss studio Koboldgames. The game was nominated twice for a Swiss award or received one.

Journey of a Roach takes place on Earth after a nuclear disaster. The player takes on the role of the cockroach Jim, who is looking for a way to the surface of the earth. The journey leads through an underground labyrinth of bunkers in which various objects have to be found and puzzles have to be solved.
Game principle and technology
Journey of a Roach combines elements of a traditional point-and-click adventure with unconventional controls. Since the main character of the game is a cockroach, it can move not only on the floor, but also on the walls and the ceiling. This fact has been integrated into many puzzles and gives them a unique character.

Journey of a Roach received mostly mediocre to poor ratings. The Metacritic review database aggregates 19 reviews to a mean of 65.
Awards
In July 2013 the game was selected as one of the winners of the "Call for Projects: Swiss Games 2012/2013". The jury named both the unique gameplay and the special graphic style as reasons for the selection. The prize was awarded by Pro Helvetia , the Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival and Fondation Suisa. Journey of a Roach was also nominated for the "Swiss Game Award 2013" of the Swiss Game Developers Association.
