Ju (Rizhao)

Ju ( Chinese 莒县 , Pinyin Jǔ Xiàn ; previously (until 1913) Juzhou ) is an east Chinese district in Shandong Province . It belongs to the administrative area of the prefecture-level city of Rizhao . Ju has an area of 1,952 km² and a population of 1.1 million. Its main town is the large community Chengyang ( 城阳镇 ).

Ginkgo tree at the Dinglin Temple

The Fulaishan area (Chinese 浮来山景区, Pinyin Fúláishān Jǐngqū ), which is located on the western border of the district, is known for a ginkgo tree that grows near the Dinglin Temple (Chinese 定林寺, Pinyin Dìnglín Sì ) and is believed to be more than 3000 years old. This makes it one of the oldest ginko trees in the world.
