Juan Antonio Fernández Palacios

Juan Antonio Fernández Palacios (born July 30, 1963 in Havana , Cuba ) is a Cuban ambassador.

Life

Fernández Palacios studied international relations at the Instituto Superior de Relaciones Internacionales "Raúl Roa García", the training center of the Cuban Foreign Ministry. He graduated in 1987. Between 1987 and 1993 he worked in the multilateral affairs department of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Then he was secretary in the Permanent Representation of Cuba to the United Nations until 1997 . From 1997 to 2000 he was deputy director of the department for multilateral affairs in the Cuban Foreign Ministry, after which he was director of the department until 2005. From 2005 to 2009 he represented Cuba as a permanent representative at the United Nations in Geneva and the international organizations in Switzerland . From 2009 to 2015 he was director of the National UNESCO Commission of Cuba and representative of Cuba on the Executive Board of UNESCO. Since 2015 he has been ambassador to Austria and permanent representative of Cuba to the United Nations in Vienna. He is also accredited as ambassador for Slovenia and Croatia .

Private

The ambassador is married and has two children.
