Juan Casado (born May 7, 1935 in Rabat ) is a former French football player .

Career

Casado was born in 1935 as a Frenchman of Spanish descent in French-occupied Morocco. On February 17, 1957, the right-back made his debut at the age of 21 in an encounter against AS Monaco in the jersey of AS Saint-Étienne in the top French division. At a time when substitutions and substitutions were not yet possible, he initially played only a minor role in the team and did not go beyond three missions for Saint-Étienne until the end of the 1956/57 season. Because his team ended the season in first place in the table, he was part of the championship team of 1957 despite his role as a supplementary player. From then on, he continued to receive sporadic trust under coach Jean Snella , before his breakthrough on the right at the beginning of the 1958/59 season Defense side made it. Although he was able to secure his regular place in the long term, he was not involved in the cup final in 1960 and had to accept a 2: 4 defeat of his comrades against AS Monaco.

The year 1962 turned out to be fateful for Saint-Étienne and the club-loyal Casado, as the team not only relegated to the second division, but also made it into the national cup final in 1962 . In this final, he was called up differently than two years earlier and was able to celebrate winning the trophy with a 1-0 win against FC Nancy . Subsequently, the previous regular player from the first division became a reservist in the second division, as he suffered a personal form low. He did not get beyond two season appearances and planned to say goodbye to Saint-Étienne despite the second division championship in 1963 and the associated direct resurgence. However, with the return of his former coach Jean Snella , the situation changed and Casado became an integral part of a team that rose to become champions in 1964. This entitled to participate in the European competition of the following season and Casado made his debut at European level, although the team was eliminated in the first round.

In the summer of 1965 he left the club after more than eight years and found a new employer in the second division Olympique Avignon . At Avignon, the player was an integral part of the team from 1965 and found himself in the upper middle of the table in the second-highest division. During the 1966/67 season, however, he lost his role as a high performer. He then ended his active career in 1967 at the age of 32 after 172 first division games and 50 second division games, each without scoring.
