Juan González Arintero OP (born June 24, 1860 , † February 20, 1928 ), Dominican since 1875, Catholic priest, Spanish theologian, taught apologetics and spiritual theology primarily in Salamanca . In 1921 he founded the magazine La Vida Sobrenatural in Bilbao , a first specialist magazine for mystical theology. This served as a model for other European journals, such as the Zeitschrift für Aszese und Mystik (Innsbruck 1926). Arintero is one of the founders of modern spirituality . Its importance lies in the fact that its integrative approach helped to overcome the neo-Scholastic separation of asceticism and mysticism . Its evolutionary ecclesiology is also of current importance . The mystical dimension of the church (corpus Christi mysticum) is the principle of its collective development and completion.
