Juan Laurentino Ortiz

Juan Laurentino Ortiz (born June 11, 1896 in Puerto Ruiz , Entre Ríos province , † September 2, 1978 in Paraná , Entre Rios province) was an Argentine poet and writer .

Around 1910 Ortiz went to Buenos Aires for three years to study philosophy at the Universidad de Buenos Aires there. He then returned to his home province and stayed there for the rest of his life, with the exception of one trip when he traveled through the Soviet Union and the People's Republic of China at the invitation of the Communist Party of China in 1957 .

In 1915 Ortiz got a job as an employee at the registry office of Gualeguay and stayed there until 1942. After his retirement he withdrew almost completely from public life.
