Judson University is a Christian Evangelical liberal arts university in Elgin . It was originally founded in 1963 as a college within the Northern Baptist Theological Seminary . When the seminary moved from Chicago to Lombard , the college was separated. The university is named after Adoniram Judson , the first American Baptist missionary abroad. On August 28, 2008 the college became a university.
