Youth choir

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A youth choir is a vocal formation consisting of young singers who often perform choral works for several voices, sometimes a cappella , sometimes accompanied by instruments.

composition

Youth choirs are divided into soprano , alto , tenor and bass parts , with two- and three-part choirs also represented. Depending on the piece and the quality of the individual voices, further subdivisions of the voices into soprano 1, soprano 2, alto 1, alto 2, etc. are common.

aims

One of the largest singing schools in Europe , the choir academy at the Dortmund Concert Hall with over 30 different choir ensembles, states that the goal of their activity is: "The young people should be able to experience choral singing as an intense hobby, which - supported by a professional environment - has many personality-building and educationally valuable Experience conveyed. Not only getting to know singing in "ad hoc situations", but also deepening singing in regular rehearsals is the aim. "

Musically

The training of the individual voices is an important part of youth choir work. Youth choirs form a basis for talented singers who, through early support, develop their interest in choral music and music in general and advance the work of adult choirs (work for young people). The voices can develop through continuous choir work.

Educational

As in other youth associations, there is also a pedagogical objective in youth choir work. The aim is to impart social skills and to practice and strengthen cooperation in the community.
