Youth forum Magdeburg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Magdeburg Youth Forum was a youth participation project in the city of Magdeburg . The young people between the ages of 12 and 27 volunteered for their environment - their city - and the young people who live in Magdeburg. It saw itself as a lobby group and supporter for the most diverse concerns of young people. In addition to implementing its own projects, as a youth bank it supported young people and their project ideas with know-how, motivation, infrastructure and money - up to € 800. As a firmly established youth participation project in the city, it was always the point of contact for the young people and cooperated with numerous other institutions in the city. At the end of 2013, the members decided to end the participation project. The main reason was, above all, that a number of members stopped working after studying and finishing school.

history

In 2002, at the youth meeting in the city council, the application for a youth participation project was made, as the educational policy mandate of the city student council was no longer sufficient for the young people and the two-year meeting “youth in the city council” did not allow for continuous youth participation. As a result, young people developed a concept - the concept of the Magdeburg Youth Forum. This was finally accepted in October 2003 by the Magdeburg city council. In March 2004, the youth forum was officially founded through its first election to the board and since then has implemented and supported many projects. Since then, the Magdeburg Youth Forum has continuously supported the city's young people in their project work and, as a Youth Bank, helped other youth projects with financial support.

In recent years, over 230 projects from a wide variety of areas have been funded in Magdeburg with a total of more than 115,000 €.

In 2011 it was a partner of the nationwide first “ Year of Youth ”, which was planned and implemented by young people themselves.
