An Encounter with Faces is an Indian short documentary by Vidhu Vinod Chopra from 1978, which portrays the poverty of Bombay street children.
The film was Chopra's first directorial work after graduating from Pune Film School . It has been shown at numerous film festivals and has won awards in Oberhausen , Leipzig (Golden Dove), Tampere (Grand Prix) and New Delhi (Golden Peacock - Best Short Film).
At the 1979 Academy Awards , he was nominated in the Best Documentary Short Film category.
