Vidhu Vinod Chopra ( Hindi : विधु ) (born September 5, 1952 in Srinagar , Kashmir ) is an Indian film director , screenwriter and film producer of Hindi films .

Life

Chopra made his first feature film Sazaye Maut in 1981 , he had only a small budget and works with the then unknown actor Naseeruddin Shah and the editor Renu Saluja , who were his fellow students at the Film and Television Institute of India .

He is married to the journalist, writer and film critic Anupama Chopra .
