The Regis-Breitingen juvenile prison is located south of Leipzig between Borna and Altenburg in Regis-Breitingen, south of the Deutzen cultural park, between Kreisstraße 7932 and the Borna reservoir in Deutzener Straße.
history
As early as 1957, an enforcement facility was built on the site of a former open- cast lignite mine . It was closed in 1992 by the Saxon State Ministry of Justice. In 1996 and 1997 the closed facility was dismantled. Construction began on the new juvenile prison in October 2004 and the foundation stone was laid by Geert Mackenroth in March 2005. The inauguration of the juvenile prison took place on October 5th, 2007.

According to its own information, the Regis-Breitingen juvenile prison is " responsible for the execution of juvenile sentences on male convicts in Saxony ... The tasks ... include the safe accommodation of juvenile prisoners as well as their education and ability to lead a life free from punishment in social responsibility in the future lead.
